Alstonville Public

LJ Signs was commissioned to do a project for Alstonville Public School in Northern NSW for their Live Ideas Centre. The space was converted into a makeshift temporary school after the floods that hit the area last year.

Once the space was available again the plan was to turn it into a free thinking learning space for the students. The motto of the project was to create a space where ideas can be created freely in a safe supporting environment. With the room encouraging freedom of thought and ideas, the atmosphere had to be inviting, fun, creative and safe.

Initially ‘geometric birds’ was the concept with ‘ideas taking flight’ other ideas flowing from there.

With consultation with school and the LJ Signs design team the idea was to come up with a wild, free flowing concept to match.

Careful consideration was put into the colours to match carpet and furniture. With approx 125 square metres of digital print and 100 square metres of direct print the combination of colours has made this an incredible space for students to learn and grow.

All printing in this project was done with HP Latex technology from LJ Signs. Wallpapers are adhered to many different surfaces from flat walls through to wrapped directly onto brick. Cut out birds and plants create an in-depth 3D perspective when in the room.

Another great project created by our team at LJ Signs and Sarah Christensen Relieving Assistant Principal Alstonville Public School – school project manager, head designer and responsible for bringing the space together for the students.
